Kitten recovers, looks for constant companions and is now blossoming into the happiest tabby cat
A little tabby kitten insists on being the center of attention after being brought back from the edge.
In early fall, two orphaned kittens were brought to a Las Vegas animal shelter to be rescued. They were in poor condition and could not eat because of their mouth sores. Patricia Lika, an experienced carer, received a request for help for the kittens.
She did not hesitate to take them in, knowing that their chance of survival depended on critical care. The kittens had a variety of health problems and were started on medication and syringe feeding. They stayed in an incubator that kept them warm and comfortable.
Despite all the odds, the tiny bundles of fur fought hard for life.
The tabby named Hampton was a little warrior from the start. He would cry after constant attention and would prefer to be carried around in a pouch by his foster mother.
“He gained weight quickly and was really perky,” shared Patricia Love Meow.
While his brother Hudson took more time to heal, the tabby boy bounced back and used his vocal skills.
Whenever Patricia walked into the nursing room, Hampton meowed so desperately, vying to be the first to be fed and loved. “I always have an intense conversation with the babies,” added Patricia.
With the right medication and careful grooming, little Hampton blossomed and grew chonkier day by day. His energy rubbed off on his brother, who was making incredible progress around the clock after several days.
Once they got through a playpen, little Hampton made it a point to get Foster Mama’s attention at every opportunity.
Although cute enough to be weaned, the cute tabby insisted on spending time with his foster mother – that made him the happiest kitten in the world.
After every meal he curled up in his human’s arms to snuggle up intensely. “He’s a mommy’s boy, big time. Even when Hampton isn’t eating, he’s breastfeeding on the bottle and enjoying his mommy’s time.”
When the tabby boy finally decided to eat from a dish like a big kitten, it made everyone so proud.
Constantly seeking his foster mother’s company, Hampton is an avid lap cat. He likes to be held like a baby or to be rocked so he can feel her closeness. “If my baby wants this, my baby will have it.”
Hampton has discovered his playful side and started an expedition through his room. He’s always on the lookout for more fun toys to play with and new things to inspect. Hudson the little brother looks up at him and follows his paw steps.
“They are so happy, playful and both little cuddly bugs,” shared Patricia Love Meow.
The fearless little tabby wants nothing more than to cuddle up with his favorite person. He’ll grab her leg and hug it or rub his face against hers – it’s his love language.
The tiny tabby has grown into a gorgeous kitten, but some things never change. He still loves lap times with his people and likes to follow them everywhere.
In a few weeks, the two brothers will be ready to find a home forever.
“With all odds against them, they thrive and live their best life. That’s what nursing is about.”
